Manufacturers and industrial companies in Austria

Machine and plant builders, metal and plastics processors, sawmills and furniture makers, electrical and chemical companies: for suppliers, industrial service providers and software vendors who want to reach manufacturers in a region or assess a market.

Our Austrian database holds 218,653 records (as of 3 November 2026); they are not yet assigned to industries. The quote states the size available for this industry.

Export of the whole industry: €409 (final price). Selections by federal state, district or your own filters are quoted on request.

Official statistics: 29,183 businesses in Austria according to Statistics Austria, structural business statistics 2024 (table G_UNT1) (reference year 2024, table created 30 June 2026). Section C manufacturing (34,351) excluding divisions 10 food (4,446), 11 beverages (722) and 12 tobacco products (no businesses in 2024). This is the size of the market, not the size of our database.

Narrowing down manufacturers to your needs

Describe the products or production processes you are looking for and your sales area. With a website you can then check yourself whether the business fits your supplier or partner profile.

An industry assignment alone proves neither machinery nor production capacity, certification or a current purchasing need.

Price of the whole industry: €409. A selection by region, sub-industry or required fields is quoted individually; the whole-industry price is not a price promise for the filtered selection.

What counts as Manufacturing and industry

The industry covers ÖNACE section C (manufacturing) without divisions 10 to 12. Food and beverage manufacturers are in the industry Agriculture, forestry and food; according to Statistics Austria there was no tobacco processing in Austria in 2024.

The individual divisions differ greatly in size and are unevenly spread across the country. A selection by division and federal state therefore hits a target group more precisely than a list of all manufacturing.

Companies register and legal notice: identity is usually easy to check

Industrial firms are often companies and therefore registered in the Firmenbuch.

Firmenbuch
The register records, among other things, register number, company name, legal form, seat and line of business (§ 3 FBG). Searches are possible individually; the law does not provide for bulk extraction.
Details on website and business stationery
Registered businesses must state company name, legal form, seat, register number and register court on websites and business letters (§ 14 UGB). This is where the register number and court in the export come from.
VAT ID
Many manufacturers state their VAT ID (ATU followed by eight digits). It can be checked using the EU’s VIES system and helps with matching against your own customer base.

Not in the export

  • number of employees and turnover
  • machinery, certifications and production capacity
  • names of purchasing or plant managers
  • all plant locations of a group
  • current investment or purchasing needs

These 15 columns are included.

Product, process or division: how to hit the right group

ÖNACE classifies by product, not by process. A contract manufacturer of CNC parts is in 25 (fabricated metal products), a maker of complete machines in 28. If you are looking for buyers of a process, combine several divisions.

Large companies often have several sites. The export usually shows the address given in the source; plants and branches elsewhere are not guaranteed as separate records.

A letter to the company address is suitable for a first approach. Marketing emails and sales calls require prior consent, also towards manufacturers (§ 174 TKG 2021).

Example request

We offer maintenance contracts for compressed-air systems and are looking for businesses in divisions 22, 25 and 28 in Styria and Carinthia with a website and companies register number, for a postal mailing and matching with our CRM. How many records is that?

Questions

Manufacturing and industry: frequently asked questions

The number of employees is not a column in the export. The legal form gives an approximation: public limited companies and GmbHs are on average larger than sole proprietorships. A real size selection needs additional sources.

No. Divisions 10 and 11 belong to the industry Agriculture, forestry and food. You can combine both industries in one request.

Only with prior consent (§ 174(3) TKG 2021). The export does not contain named contact persons anyway. Details: B2B marketing and § 174 TKG 2021.
